Every country has to its heritage a plethora of crafts rooted to local materials, skills and vernacular know how. A country bursting with colourful, nuanced and diverse expression is India, with over six million artisans employed in the crafts industry.. From Karnataka’s lacquer wood toys famous from Channapatna toy-towns, or the sustainable and eco-friendly Athangudi tiles from Tamil Nadu, or the - each craft is a rich reflection of the country’s unique geography, natural resources and skills of the respective community. Each traditional crafts plays a very important role in representing the culture, heritage, skills and talents associated with people’s lifestyle and their history.
